Spirit

Spirit came to us from the state of Oregon.  He is a 5 year old Quarter Horse Paint.  In June of 2013 White Horse Ranch leaders Gina Dahlen and Kathy Elmer attended a training seminar at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch.  While out there we took in some of the sites and decided to go on a trail ride with a non profit organization who focus their efforts on working with reservation children.  While riding up the mountain the President of the non profit indicated that "the white horse at the resort your staying at needs to be in the Midwest and we want you to have him," he also indicated that the Oregon sun was too strong for his light skinned sensitive eyes and nose.  Little did he know that he was giving a horse to a ranch with the name "White Horse Ranch".   As there were a number of  different spirit led God encounters on this trip we opted to name him "Spirit".  He has quickly become a rider favorite at the ranch.

Talker
Blaze is a very sweet 7 year-old, registered Quarter Horse, sorrel mare. We acquired her three years ago. She brought with her a history of chasing cattle through sorting and penning. In the past she had been bought and sold three times in three years. Now she finally has a permanent home here and has settled in nicely. Blaze loves attention so you will often find her at the fence waiting for your interaction. She also loves to give riding lessons to all those beginner riders.
Talker is a 13 year old, registered Quarter Horse, sorrel mare.  Gina - Director of the White Horse Ranch inherited her after the owner, (Aunt) Beth passed away. Talker is the tallest horse at the ranch with a sweet gentle personality.   Aunt Beth would be so proud to see the impact that she has on the kids who come to see her at the ranch.

Vision

WHR's newest rescue is "Vision". Vision is a 7 year old paint quarter pony that was referred to as "Blind Mare". Two days prior to her arrival at the ranch we were contacted by Lazy J Ranch & Rescue who described her potential life threating situation. Not only did we feel led to rescue her, but  realized what unconditional love she had to share with the kids and friends of the ranch. She may not see clearly but I believe she sees through her heart. We are excited that Visions story will continue to be told. She has not allowed her "lack of sight" stop her from loving an trusting the people she interacts with. What is amazing about her is she loves to be ridden and totally trust her rider to steer and direct her safely. She is very willing and eager to be a friend to almost everyone she meets! Since she has been here, kids tend to gravitate to her. The love that is shared between them is incredibly special.

"Mini" Coper
Bill
Mini Coper is a rescued 8 year old mini pony who came to us from High Tail Horse Ranch & Rescue.  He has made White Horse Ranch his forever home now and has been well received by everyone he has met so far..  Charlie is a bit shy at first, but is willing to let you ride or drive him, as he can do both.
This miniature donkey came to our ranch because of the attention he demands. He is a welcomed addition that is ready to greet kids of all ages, including adults.  At White Horse Ranch we think of him as the grounds keeper or "The Sheriff" that stays up to date on everything that is happening.  He makes your business his business.  If you do not pet him soon enough he will be sure you do by nudging you to do so.

Apache

Apache a 12 year old paint gelding was donated to White Horse Ranch in the fall of 2013 by a local Barrett family. As a foal Apache was adopted by the McLaughlin family from the Stevens County Humane Society, who had rescued him from a situation of abuse and starvation due to severe neglect. The McLaughlin family provided him with a very loving home for the last 11 years until they made the decision to move to town in the winter of 2014 at which point he was donated to the ranch. Apache has settled in very well with us and loves all the attention he gets from every size rider, he especially enjoys going along on the trail rides.
